Caution on Events/Education Postings on Site (Always Investigate to make sure it is Legitimate)

Dear Colleagues

Recently a colleague brought to my attention a posting (not on this site) that is for a conference, which is a scam to solicit money from people. I do want to caution that although we make every effort to ensure only legitimate postings are placed on this site, it is the end user's responsibility and choice to respond to opportunities (as outlined in terms of use). Thus, please investigate the legitimacy of all organizations and never send money or personal information unless you're sure it is a genuine opportunity. If someone is asking for funds up front for something that sounds suspicious, this is a sign that it is probably not legitimate.

While I haven't heard any complaints specific to postings on this site, I wanted to post this general caution to help prevent problems. Also, if you suspect there is a posting that is questionable on the site please let me know and the posting will likely be deleted and the member potentially banned.
