Comrades,

Today's workshop and discussionat UPEACE on being a peace maker led our seminar group 07 facilitated by Balazcs, into deeper analysis of who is a peace maker and positive peace issues right from oneself to the global aspects. This aspect of ONLY ONE NATION seems to be focused on full realisation of Positive peace.

Yes issues noted in the covenant above seems to portray an ideal situation that seems challemging to realise in the real world today.Even comrade Mohamed's comments below seem to be in the same line.

We noted that this is a gradual process which has to begin from the inner-self. Agape Love, Respect, Trust, Self sacrifice and even taking risks is warranted in this process like several global re-known peace lovers did.We start small and grow bigger.Any single drop we add to bring about peace to the world starting from ourselves is so vital.

I am happy joining you comrades.Let us keep sharing ideas and learning from one another

Hello UPEACE members,

I am a potential prospective student who is examining UPEACE as a possible location for me to do a Master's degree, with my program of interest being the "Natural Resources and Sustainable Development" Masters held in conjunction with American University in Washington.

Are there any current students of this program, or alumni, that are in this group that could relate their experiences of the program to me? i.e. Its academic rigour, the things you liked and didn't like, what living in Costa Rica is like, etc. etc.

Please feel free to contact me if you are in this position!

Regards,

Please take few minutes to read and share with your friends and network if you think it would benefit them.

After we accomplished our pilot project with young adults from 10 countries last February 2009 in Thailand, we're ready to launch the Peace Revolution live project. The program is all about

Peace & Conflict Resolution

Mediation & Meditation

World Peace & Inner Peace

Self-Development & Transformation

and many more…

Presently, we have almost 500 participants from 99 countries registered for a unique online program provided free of charge. You’d better ascertain by clicking at WWW.PEACEREVOLUTION2010.ORG for further details.

Also, we provide (limited) “Fellowship” to an international conference in February 2010 in Thailand especially for youth and young adult ages between 18-30 years who apply before October 15, 2009. Learn more at http://www.peacerevolution2010.org/docs/en/apply-for-the-agency.

If you are the one who believe in this equation;

“Inner Peace + Outer Peace = Sustainable World Peace”,

let’s join force today!

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

With great respect and appreciation for your endeavor toward peace

Peace in…Peace out!

Joint Photo Campaign CIVICUS with UNDP Humanizing Development Global Photography Campaign

How do you see development? How can you portrait the human face of the development processes? How do you show that development initiatives and programmes improve the lives of people? This Global Photography Campaign, of which CIVICUS is a partner, aims to show examples of people winning the battle against poverty, social exclusion and marginalization.

The themes are:
• Overcoming poverty, social exclusion and marginalisation.
• Enlarging people's choices and supporting local development initiatives.
• Promoting self-esteem, confidence and hope.
• Building a brighter future and advancing human capacities.
• Fighting deprivation and expanding access to food, water, sanitation, education and health services for the poor.
• Eliminating gender inequalities in the labour market.
• Empowering women.
• Fighting discrimination, domestic violence, abuse and exploitation.
• Eliminating child labour and promoting decent work opportunities.
• Expanding access to education and improving its quality and social inclusiveness through innovative approaches.
• Innovative initiatives on local development, enhancing the participation of communities in decision processes.
• Enhancing women's potential and participation in development processes.
• Promoting women's leadership and equal opportunity to develop talents.
• Building democratic governance and developing institutions and processes that are more responsive to the needs of ordinary citizens, including the poor. Alleviating exclusion, suffering, injustice and waste caused by corruption.
• Empowering citizens to combat the destructive influence of corruption, entrenched networks and abuse of power.
