What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?

It is my personal mission. I live in Mindanao, a conflict-ridden island of the Philippines. I want to be of help to preserve and promote peace in the world.

I am Lovenia Parcon Naces, Associate Professor in Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. I hold Masters Degrees in Sociology and Pastoral Ministry and a doctorate in Sociology.

I am active in the cooperative and prolife movements in the Philippines. I get involved internationally through the cooperatives, promoting socio-economic development as instrument of Peace.

I have friendly relations with some Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) ex-combatants which started with my involvement with them through cooperatives. For many of them, FOOD IS THE NEW NAME OF PEACE.

I am revising my book on the History of the Cooperative Movement in Northern Mindanao to include the whole of Mindanao - thus, History of the Cooperative Movement in Mindanao.
