Profile Information

What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
I am a citizen of Sri Lanka. The country is now in turmoil. I am of those sufferers. This turmoil, in my view is due to the non-existence of a true democratic system in the country. The existing system, said to be democratic, has been manipulated by shrewd politicians to the path of dictatorship for their personal benefits. Corruption is rampant. Peace has evaporated and no signs of ending the turmoil.

So it is my humble opinion that the citizens must step-in with a view to arrest corruption and put-in place a truly democratic system of governance that would not allow corruption to creep-in so that there would be sustainable peace, prosperity and a pleasant living for ALL the people in the country.
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself (no more than 3 paragraphs)

Hi Sie your post empirically and philosophically depict the goingons in developing countries. The issue of parliamentary and presidential system of democracy also depends immensely on the level of the electorates, legislators and opportuists politicians a lot.Democracy is such mistailored fine fabric to rule here or there. We need to x-ray and audit not only the anatomy & cphysiology but also remain vigilant on the biochemistry of the elected officers integrity and real compassion to impact +vely on the people they purportedly want to serve.Rtn Gbemi

It 's logical to experiment doing something about excessive power use such as by multiparty system and reducing cronysm and corruption to a tolerable minimum.I alsosuggest we discuss it as a commom cause of conflic t symptomatically everywhere there's a preponderance of political power predation. You re correct most epileptic democracies in the needlessly developing world in AFRICA in prticular .
Malosh & Sie.K HAVE OBSERVED IN THE SAME on the same pperennial narrier to peace.

Dear Mr. Kathieravealu,

Thank you for your note and your invitation. I am one of the founder members of a group by the name of Reconcile and Rebuild Sri Lanka. This is a group that was formed about 8 weeks ago, out of the emergency and needs on the ground in Sri Lanka. We are a group of moderate Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims, Dutch Burghers, and other friends of Sri Lanka whose voices were drowned by those of extremists on both sides for too long. We have decided to not allow our moderate voices to be silenced any more, and to actively engage in meeting the needs of our people (all Sri Lankans) in the spirit of reconciliation and rebuilding. I urge you to take a look at our website, and if you would like, you are most welcome to join.
