Profile Information

What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?
I have been working as social enterpreneur for over last 2 decades. The increasing conflict in the civil society in recent years motivated me to include peace work in my domain .
Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself (no more than 3 paragraphs)
I am a development activist from India , having multi-disciplenary academic background of MA( sociology), MBA(HRM) , PG diploma in computer applications, MA(public administration) , LL.B., etc. I work through NGOs/ Charities to reach out to the poor and excluded communities to empower them and I am also the President of a NGO in India . I have skills in Transformation-Training , PRA , Micro-planning , Community development , OD and education .

I know the basics of yoga and massage and naturopathy . I am a friendly person and a team worker.

I have been to many countries like UK( Schumacher College) , Austria ( KFO charity), Manila ( to attend a course by University of Vermont / Gund Institute/USA), spain / Portugal etc ,to interact with development agencies and academic orgs and to upgrade my knowledge on change-processes. What I found was that- the basis of peace lies in positive human interactions , participatory governance and sustainable inclusive growth.

I am looking for friends and friendly organisations who can share ideas and skills with me to prevent societal violence , empower women and children and tribes in India and help develop measures to check global warming and check destruction of tropical forests.

I donot belive in discrimination in the forms of age , gender , race , religion ( as they block energy flow)but belive that every person has high energy inside her or him which needs to be preserved and harnessed to make her /him more beautiful , healthy and socially warm.

You are warmly welcome to be my guest if u are coming to India any time .

North Korea issue

The North Korea is again threatening the world with missiles! The USA seems to have no policy for Korea region to tackle the issue. Like west-asia , there needs to be policy for Pakistan-India-China-Afganistan-region as well as for korea region.

If after the US President revolutionary speech in Egypt , there is a Korean call for arm-race , it only shows how countries are obssessed with local issues.

Prez Obama also have to look into CTBT , NPT and generate discussion aorund these issues in wor… Continue

Is US becoming soft state : Post Egypt-speech analysis

Us Prez. Mr. Obama's speech in Egypt is quite revolutionary in its content. He shared his vision of a peaceful world and it is most welcome direction of the world order. All countries look upon USA as global leader in international peace and development.

On the reality side , there is Palestine issue and there is Osama bin laden arrest issue. The recent france air tragedy is again indicating the hands of terrorists in it. The pakistan is facing terror issue. There are so many local and regional… Continue

I welcome Obama as US president : An Indian Peace lover's view

The US citizens have elected Mr. Obama as their New President and I wish the New President and the US citizens all the best as Mr. Obama takes over office !

Initially , I took the change in US President's office as a domestic affair of USA and did not show much interest .

I was surely immensely happy to see a racial outlook change of American citizens after years of democratization culture building ! I was not sure what changed the outlook of American people during the election , whether it wa… Continue

Appreciating others would reduce conflict

Often conflict happens as we donot appreciate others. A small misunderstanding snowballs into a conflict and then violence. This happens in case of individuals , groups , work groups and nations. On the other hand , just saying superficial hello or quantitatively sending messages donot help much.
In the books "I am ok- Yo are ok" and "What do you say after you say hello", these things are already explained .

I consider two areas of blocking for the expression of appreciation :-one is gender- in… Continue

GHP ( gross hapiness index) Not GDP

A Folk Story :-

Often the desire to be or to have, is the cause of most worries and we carry forward past worries , like the way we carry forward bank accounts !

Once a Buddhist monk , raised a topic of rule violation in a monthly meeting where Lord Buddha was present. He complained how his fellow preacher took meat a month's ago , violating the rule , and demanded punishment !

Lord Buddha smiled and told the Monk : He did it a month ago but you are eating the meat throughout the month in you… Continue

Dear Lalit, thank you for invitation to be friends. It is so calm and peaceful in the woods around us. I hope my inner self can be as balanced as I work on some things that are important to me this week.

We have a journalist arriving on the 19th, and a group of us have organized his book tour, fun, but also tension producing.

in peace, Dori
