What motivated you to become involved in peace and conflict resolution?: I started getting involved after realizing that the wars in ex-Yugoslavia, that I did not really remember or understand, affected my life daily. One of the things that triggered my interest was also the fact that the media and the society in general felt more comfortable in painting a black and white picture of what happened and that just did not seem as something I would easily accept. So I began reading, traveling, exploring and meeting people from the region that shared the interest in the recent history of the region.

Please feel free to provide a short bio about yourself (no more than 3 paragraphs): I was born in in 1981 in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia (then one of the six republics of Yugoslavia). I graduated at the Faculty of political science (journalism) two years ago. I have been working in journalism since I was 17 and since then I worked for different media outlets in the region and abroad (the longest time spent on Radio 101 in Zagreb).
I began being interested in human rights related stories, started working for some NGOs and after that I did projects for the Council of Europe. I also did youth work, volunteered in Scotland, Sicily, Germany, France and Slovakia and went through many trainings, conferences and seminars on human rights related issues.
I developed an interest in dealing with the past, transitional justice, international justice mechanisms, war crimes etc. Now I am finishing my masters course in human rights in Sarajevo, writing a thesis on the impact of the Hague Tribunal on the reconciliation process in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

What are some of your current areas of research (if any)?: I am currently exploring Bosnia and Herzegovina and I am doing research on the impacts of the International Criminal Tribunal (ICTY in The Hague) on the reconciliation process in the country.

THE THESIS WAS DONE MONTHS AGO.

If appropriate feel free to list several of your publications: I do not have any substantial academic work published yet. Hopefully, this will change.

Human Losses, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Great to hear from you. I would definitely like to read your thesis and hear more about your radio program. How cool. If you need help identifying PhD programs, I know quite a bit about ICAR/GMU one. That's where I got my M.S. I am also getting ready to apply for a Ph.D. but only in Sweden. I am thinking of doing a comparative study of Bosnia and kazakhstan. Have to think some more about it. Btw, my husband is from Sarajevo and am beginning to take language classes tomorrow. Maybe I can email you in Bosniac sometimes ;)
